Use this when a form or printer wants a JPEG and you care about the format, not a 100 KB cap. Type a high target the tool allows (10 to 5000). 2000 is a reasonable start for a photo-sized PNG. A screenshot full of text should stay higher too: a tiny JPEG turns glyphs to mush. Size-first email advice is compress a PNG for email.
A transparent logo should not come through this page if you still need the transparency. JPEG cannot keep it. Keep the PNG, or cut the subject out first and download nobg.png.
Steps
- Open Compress to KB. Choose the PNG. No model download is involved.
- Type a target near the quality you want, not the smallest number. 2000 KB is inside the 10–5000 range.
- Download the JPEG. Zoom type and edges. Raise the target if they break.
- Do not run this on a cutout you still need as a transparent PNG.
FAQ
Does the PNG get uploaded?
No. The quality search runs in the tab. The download is a local blob URL. Verify local.
Why did the checkerboard background turn white?
The output is a JPEG. Alpha is discarded. That is expected, not a second background removal.
Can I type 10000 KB?
No. The field accepts 10 through 5000. For a larger original, 5000 is the highest target.
