This is the Shopify listing case. It is not the general product-photo note and not a marketplace white-background plate. Remove background runs ormbg (Apache-2.0) on device and downloads a transparent PNG. Shopify accepts that PNG as product media when you want the storefront to show transparency. A channel that insists on pure white — many marketplaces, some ad placements — needs you to composite a white plate locally. The tool does not add one.
A short workflow
- Export a still as JPEG, PNG, or WebP. One object, plain light. Phone HEIC: HEIC to JPG first.
- Open Remove background. The anonymous try is 640px on the long side. A free account gets 3 full-size HD removals per UTC day. Pro is full size, and batch is Pro only, one tab, nothing uploaded.
- Download the PNG. Check straps, glass, and type at 100%. ormbg can fringe there. The wider product-photo notes are in product photo, transparent background.
- Add the PNG in Shopify Admin as the product image. Do not re-export it as JPEG if you still need transparency.
- If a sales channel wants white, flatten onto white on your machine. If the flattened JPEG must meet a size cap, use Compress to KB — that step drops alpha.
What this is not
- Not a Shopify app and not a bulk editor for the whole catalog. Batch on this site is Pro, still one browser tab, still local.
- Not a white-background generator. See the general product cutout if the listing is not Shopify.
- Not a logo trace. Wordmarks: remove a logo background.
FAQ
Will Shopify keep the transparency?
Product images that stay PNG can. Exporting or recompressing to JPEG flattens the background. Upload the PNG you downloaded.
Why is the download 640px?
That is the anonymous try, or a signed-in run after the 3 free HD removals for the UTC day are used. Pro, or a reserved HD credit, keeps full size.
Which model?
ormbg only. RMBG, BiRefNet, and BEN2 are not offered. Licenses.
